Exploring the science of startups

Research

Research Questions

My research stems from the following question:

How can early-stage founders successfully pursue their venture, while avoiding the negative aspects of startup life?

I am particularly interested in how early-stage founders build relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, co-founders, early customers, and key employees—and, of course, the outcomes of these relationships. Some of the variables I’m exploring are entrepreneur wellbeing, emotions, creativity, and motives, particularly during early-stage funding.

Research Methods

I consider my unique value proposition as a researcher to be my strong computer programming skills combined with my extensive entrepreneur and investor professional network that offers access to proprietary data sources.

I primarily conduct quantitative and computational (e.g. Text as Data, ML) research with data collected from online platforms, such as Twitter, LinkedIn, or Crunchbase. I also conduct experimental and cross-sectional studies, when that is appropriate for the research question.

Publications and Projects

Below are the works I’ve published or presented at research conferences. In addition, I’ve included my projects that are beyond the conceptual stage.
